Booking:

The WSET® Level 2 - Wine course provides a sound overview and solid product knowledge of the world's most important wines and the combination of wine and food. The principles of tasting and evaluation according to the ‘WSET® Tasting Scheme’ (SAT) are demonstrated and practised for each subject area using numerous wine samples including label analysis. In an understandable and clear way, advanced expertise for an appropriate wine selection, also with food, and for the correct service of wine is taught and learnt. The use of basic technical vocabulary for competent advice to customers and employees is presented and practised.


SCHEDULE OF COURSE

  • Familiarisation with the factors that influence the style and price of a wine
  • Familiarisation with the most important grape varieties, their distribution and characteristics
  • Understanding the labels of wines, sparkling wines, sweet wines and deducing production methods, flavour and style
  • Learning to inform and advise customers and employees about wine
  • Create analytical tasting notes and use recognised technical vocabulary
  • Learn the basics of food and wine pairing


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
 
  • People with little or no prior knowledge of wine
  • Private wine enthusiasts looking for an in-depth and structured introduction to wine
  • people starting out in their careers or already working in the wine industry (retail or wholesale), in the catering trade and in sectors closely related to wine or catering (agencies, service providers, etc.) or people who want to prepare for such a job

Registration and payment for this course must be made at least 20 working days before the start of the course. If this deadline is not met, the WSET® in London will charge additional fees, which we will pass on to you. We will be happy to provide you with detailed information on this if required. Once payment has been received, your training materials will be sent to you by parcel service.


IMPORTANT FOR THE DISPATCH OF TRAINING DOCUMENTS OUTSIDE GERMANY 

There are higher charges for shipping abroad, which we will invoice you for. These amount to 10 to 20 euros within Europe. For shipping to Switzerland, for example, additional costs may be charged for customs clearance, which must be paid by the recipient directly to the relevant authority. 


PREPARATION 

You will receive your course materials after receipt of payment. We strongly recommend that you work through the textbook before the course. To prepare for the exam, the WSET® recommends planning 11 hours of self-study in addition to attending the course.


EXAMINATION AND CERTIFICATE

The examination (multiple-choice test consisting of 50 questions with 60 minutes examination time) takes place in German at the end of the third day of training. After passing the exam, you will receive the internationally recognised WSET® Level 2 - Wines certificate in German.

We usually receive the results of the examination from the WSET in London eight weeks after the examination date. We will then inform you by e-mail as soon as possible. We only receive the certificates three to four months after the examination. We will send them to you by post as soon as possible.
